The Mudgee Hospital project was a $70.7 million redevelopment of the existing hospital site with the addition of a multi-purpose medical building. The project had to consider the current operational needs of the hospital whilst incorporating flexibility for future expansion and growth.
RMA was engaged to undertake the planning, design and delivery of the hospital master plan and redevelopment.
We delivered a focused design solution optimised to the client’s key drivers, the relevant standards and stringent NSW Health requirements. The design also encompassed operational requirements, future expansion flexibility, ongoing maintenance, project cost and constructability.
Our team produced value engineered structural and civil design solutions to reduce construction costs and improve ongoing operational costs.
Through a structural redesign, our team developed efficiencies in both the new and redeveloped buildings to save over 70 tonnes of steel.
Our civil team redesigned the stormwater drainage to create efficiencies for both the stormwater quality and quantity. This was achieved by a reduction in the pipes required for drainage, and a reduction in the number of quality devices, resulting in fewer materials used and reduced maintenance costs once operational.
