With a seasonal production of 33 million tonnes, Bundaberg Sugar is one of Australia’s largest sugar cane growers, processing sugar cane through multiple Bundaberg Sugar owned and operated loading facilities and mills throughout the region.
Bundaberg Sugar approached RMA to assist with a traffic impact assessment and loading facility design following the closure of a sugar mill. The traffic assessment included a haul route assessment for multiple heavy vehicle transport routes on both state and local road networks. The assessment indicated no adverse impacts, and the haul routes were approved by local and state government. The operational works design and documentation was then undertaken for the specialised loading facility sites. RMA worked with the client and contractor during construction to deliver a smooth and fast installation prior to the crush season.
The new loading facilities and transport corridors have seen a 30% increase in Bundaberg Sugar’s operational performance.
